Since Disney released their first animated feature film in 1937, (the now-iconic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs) they have continued to release films that have struck a chord with audiences all over the world, decade after decade.

Disney movies are loved by people from all generations, and the magic they bring to life on screen is something really special.

Some films were popular enough to receive sequels or even be turned into an entire franchise, and some of the best-loved titles were remade in later years, most recently with a spate of live-action remakes of animated classics.

But which films are the most loved of all time? We’ve looked at box office figures and Metacritic scores to work out which the highest performing films were overall, as well as which remakes and sequels have performed the best.

Methodology

Starting with a list of all Walt Disney Pictures films, we took critic scores from Metacritic and domestic box office revenue (adjusted for inflation) from Box Office Mojo.

We excluded any documentaries, straight to TV or video/DVD releases (such as High School Musical 1 & 2) and films where critic rating and/or box office figures were unavailable.

Note that while some films were in fact remakes of older non-Disney films, these are still listed as originals due to it being the first time they had been made under the Disney umbrella. This is because we are only including data on Disney productions, and the comparisons made are between Disney's own films.
